We had a prompt start on a good walking day, grey sky early on, fine with a slight wind on the high ground.

Walking via Bramley, Back Lane, the edge of High Bramley Wood and Ince Piece Wood we soon reached Eckington for a short refreshment stop at the benches near the Church.

To the sound of the bells we retraced our steps along Gas House Lane. Skirting Lady Bank Wood we made our way into Mosborough Village via the Captain, through the Lamb Setts and then up Bridle Stile to Ridgeway Village.

Following Robinbrook Lane we walked via little Carterhall Wood and Bullock Storth, along paths through meadows and arable land to Lightwood Lane.

A short spell on the tarmac up the Lane saw us at the footpath over the fields down to Newfield Spring Wood and Bridle Road Wood.

On route we enjoyed a short lunch break in a wooded area.

Reaching the banks of the Moss we followed the Bridle Path upto Owler Carr Lane where we turned right upto Sicklebrook Farm. The path just above the farm on the left took us through the woods to the stone stile opposite the Gate Inn.

Our timely arrival at 12.55 pm allowed ample time for liquid refreshment and recollections of the walk.
